Unveiled at the 1963 Turin Motor Show, the Maserati Mistral, designed by Pietro Frua, represented a new era for the brand with the trident.
Here is the beautiful story of the coupe on offer, which comes in a beautiful original condition. This car was bought new by Mr. Ruff, a leading German industrial, from the Maserati Auto Konig specialist in Munich. He used it to drive to his house in Vence, South of France. In January 1998, he had it completely overhauled by Auto Konig, who was still maintaining the car, when it had 55,523 km on the odometer, before having it transported by truck to his residence on the Côte d’Azur. He unfortunately died shortly thereafter and the car was then registered in the name of his daughter who - not using it - had it stored in the family home. It is powered by the 3.7L engine, equipped with mechanical Lucas fuel injection, and still features the first dashboard used on the Maserati Mistral.
In 2017, the car came out of “hibernation” by a marque enthusiast, who wanted to initially restore it. Charmed by its remarkably original condition, he prefered giving the car a cautious restart, embellished with some mechanical work. The tension of the timing chain was checked, the injection pump distributor disassembled and unhooked, the fuel pump and the fuel system checked. An engine compression test has been done. The ignition harness as well as the coils and the igniter head have been changed. On this occasion all the fluids (engine oils, gearbox, differential, braking systems) were drained and it was found that the chassis does not show any trace of an accident. Whilst driving, one can only appreciate its smooth operation and the fine gear change of the ZF gearbox and realize that after some current works, the car will be a delight.
The car comes with its service and warranty booklets, its tool kit and period spark plug set. In the boot, the original Borrani spare wheel is present… With its beautiful combination of original colors, metallic blue exterior and cream leather interior, this car is a beautiful time travel piece!
