According to Maserati Classiche, this rare and desirable 4.0-litre Mistral left the factory on 14th May 1968 and was despatched to its first owner in Lainate near Milan. The original colour scheme was blue pervinca (dark blue metallic) with white leather interior, the same colour combination that is retained today. The first registered owner was Fabbrica Italiana Articoli Plastici SpA, while the second owner was a certain Giordano Vaghi of neighbouring Rho, who would keep the car for some 21 years (from 1968 to 1989) when he sold it to Fabulous Cars of Milan. The Mistral changed hands once again in 1996 to another Milan resident, who in turn sold it in 2005 to the current owner.

Importantly, it is evident from its ownership history that this car has been cherished by previous custodians; has remained on its original Milan plates since new; and has also always been finished in the original colour scheme. The car also retains its original Lucas fuel injection.

During the present ownership, the car has been looked after regularly, as evidenced by invoices from Maserati specialist Tralli of Modena: in 2007 a Lucas fuel pump was fitted and the distributor overhauled, while in 2006 the engine was overhauled at a cost of some €7,800, and new rubber seals for the body were supplied also. A new clutch was fitted in 2005, and the brakes were overhauled recently.

The car is offered with Italian registration documents; an email from Maserati with the production data; sundry parts invoices; sundry photographs of the brake overhaul, and an original owner’s manual. A rare and beautiful Maserati in a stunning colour combination, with known ownership history from the day it left the factory.
